By integrating a security video system with RFID and touch sensors, smart home can recognize home owners and play personalized welcome message, while initiating security video footage when visitors arrive.

Use Cases

Mr. Anderson is a 75-year old widower living alone in rural Iowa. Mr. Anderson has been living in his 3-bedroom house all his adult life, and has no wish to move to anywhere else. When he comes back to home after shopping and attaches RFID on touch sensors, the system recognizes Mr. Anderson and a familiar voice greets him "Welcome back, Mr. Anderson."

  • 5 Internet cameras (129.186.93.32 – 129.186.93.36)
  • Phidget IFK and touch sensor (attached to tigger via USB hub)
  • RFID Reader (attached to tigger via USB hub)
  • Gray keychain RFID  for identifying the user
